The school operates a comprehensive assessment program that includes regular formative assessments and progress tests completed in class as well as summative assessments that are taken at the end of each term.
Diagnostic tests will be completed at the start of the academic year using internationally recognized assessments that will include MAP tests.
MAP testing will be used to gauge progress against the common core standards used for students in Grades 4-12 for our American curriculum – more information about MAP testing is given below.
Tests will be used by teachers to plan suitably challenging lessons for all students to ensure that each learner is able to progress at a pace that is right for them.
MAP Growth helps teachers understand what students know today, so goals can be set to improve growth through the year. Student cannot pass of fail this test.
This test will not affect grades. In fact, it’s normal for students to only answer about half the questions correctly. Please don’t help them!
Given the challenges of learning from home, MAP Growth test results are especially helpful for us this year. These results will help us know what students are ready to learn.
MAP Growth tests measure a student's academic achievement, not their ability.
Achievement on the NWEA tests is evidence of what a student has learned and can do with approximately 50 percent accuracy within subject areas: math, reading, language usage, and science.
NB: Ability describes a student’s capacity to learn, independent of what has been achieved. NWEA’s tests and reports do not measure or report a student’s capacity or ability to learn.
